Evolving customer expectations and an increase in logistics challenges is driving the need for supply chain leaders to offer more innovative and robust logistics solutions.
Dubai - United Arab Emirates: 20th November 2024: Supply chains will not survive unless they meet the changing demands of the customer. That was the message from the global trade and logistics giant DP World, which believes that the new-world demands coming from consumers and retailers is driving change amongst cargo owners, which is forcing them to look at more creative options for transporting goods.
The call came during the company’s annual Global Freight Summit, which saw 10,000 logistics professionals discuss concrete actionable solutions to the major challenges affecting global trade. During the Summit businesses were urged to innovate, offer a ’hyper-personalised’ approach to customer demands and partner with firms who can deliver those solutions to build resilience at a time of global uncertainty.
Leaders also underlined the importance of technology in building supply chain resilience to navigate the road ahead. By 2030, the market for AI in supply chains is expected to reach $41.23 billion, driven by the need for improved efficiency and the ability to manage complex logistics operations. Experts highlighted the role of AI to drive positive change, enabling time reductions, cost savings and reducing risks across the whole operation.
A host of renowned thought leaders from various sectors addressed the audience, including the 12th President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, celebrated US data scientist Rumman Chowdhury, Chief Executive Offer of Capital A, Tony Fernandes, Co-founder of Wikipedia, Jimmy Wales, as well as leaders from the supply chain, including representation from DHL, Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd.
The expanded third edition of the Global Freight Summit 2024 took place from 18th - 20th November and was attended by industry leaders from more than 155 countries
