“If you have willpower but your government does not try to solve your problems, it does not mean that
you should stay at home. In my situation the biggest problem is transport. It is hard to live here even if
you’re not disabled, but it’s harder if you are, because everything works against you, from accessibility
and social conditions to simple basic needs. Every day we climb the steps and remember about equal
rights and equal possibilities.”

“We received financing from the European Union and the Asian Development Agency to found a sewing
production company and to engage in social enterprise. Our organization has received training and skills
from the two donor organizations. We have begun sewing training. The participants are five disabled
persons with disadvantaged social background. By the end of the training there will be an exam and the
best two participants will become trainers. This is our first project and we are finalizing it already.”

“It’s like manna coming from heaven. They suggested that I put together a team and create a civil society organization. We attach great importance to the problems of disabled people, so we thought: if not us, then who? We were a bit scared at first, but I like to make bold steps and try myself. Old Anoush was ambitious and driven, but thanks to this organization I became more bold, more farsighted, and why not – got the opportunity to work in a team.”

“For many people this can be a way of life, a job, a profession. We all know that in Armenia, the employment issue for disabled people is very serious. I’m not saying serious, I’m saying very serious, as
many employers do not believe that a disabled person can compete with others. Taking all that into account, I want to become more independent.”

“Based on the results of every program, I am inspired to move forward in more confident steps. I would
like to see Vanadzor more prosperous, more cheerful, more accessible, economically developed. All the
possibilities are there, we just need desire and work.”
