TENERIFE PRESIDENT PRAISES OCEAN CENSUS' IMPORTANT WORK

The President of Tenerife has hailed the "important scientific work" of local and international explorers who have discovered new species in the waters around the Canary Islands.

Rosa Davila was speaking on a visit to Radazul to meet scientists on the Ocean Census Macaronesia Mission, who are learning more about what lies deep in the volcanic waters of the archipelago on a month-long marine expedition involving submersible dives to 300m below the surface.

 The most important thing is the scientific work that is being done and above all, the number of new species that are appearing. (That is)thanks to the work of Ocean Census and all the scientists who are researching, thanks to the fact that we have a submarine that allows us to reach depths that are never easy to reach.
