Today marks the 100th Anniversary of the largest battle ever in U.S. military history, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive of World War I. Events at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, in France, marked the centennial, and honored the 14,246 men and women buried there.

These special events were hosted by the American Battle Monuments Commission, and were attended by members of the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission, who are creating the new National World War I Memorial in Washington, DC. Information on the new National WWI Memorial can be found at WW1CC.org

The events included a wreath-laying, the reading of names of the fallen, and the lighting of luminary candles for the graves.
